Another great episode from Marc Clair and the Lions of Liberty!

In this episode of the Lions of Liberty Podcast, I am joined by Dr. Mirand Sharma, an emergency room physician of over twenty years who asked to come on the show to offer a rebuttal to the recent interview with the “Science Babe”, Yvette Guinevere. First, Dr. Sharma describes how the events of 9/11/01 along with the presidential candidacy of Ron Paul helped lead him to hold libertarian ideals. Dr. Sharma then explains why he took issue with many of the statements of the Science Babe, including her stance on GMO’s and vaccines. Dr. Sharma and I discuss how crony arrangements between the FDA and CDC and companies such as Monsanto and Merck often lead to justifiable suspicion about their products, particularly when they are able to influence the regulation of their own products. I offer my own summary in the wrap-up rant!

Marc Clair interviews Rick Ross on cults!

In this episode of the Lions of Liberty Podcast, I welcome in cult expert and deprogramming specialist, Rick Ross of the Cult Education Institute. Rick describes how he first became entrenched in the subject of cults when he realized his grandmother was being preyed upon by a cult at her nursing home. Since then, Ross has become one of the leading specialists on cults in the United States, and has worked to “deprogram” many who have fallen under the influence of destructive cults. Rick describes the defining characteristics of cults, and how they differ from mainstream religions. Rick and I discuss the types of people who are vulnerable to cults, how cult leaders exert such a strong influence over their followers, and just how those who have fallen into a cult can be deprogrammed. In the wrap-up rant, I have some thoughts of my own on how cult-like thinking has become pervasive in many aspects of our society. I then share a personal story about my own experience with a cult.

Another great episode from our partners over at Lions of Liberty:

In this episode of the Lions of Liberty Podcast, I am joined by fellow Lions of Liberty contributor and co-founder, John Odermatt for another edition of The Felony Report! John breaks down some of his most recent articles from his weekly Felony Friday series. Topics discussed include the Florida man acquitted of marijuana charges due to a medical necessity defense, the 72 year old New Jersey teacher arrested for an antique pistol, and the Hillary Clinton email scandal. John and I discuss property rights, why non-violent felons should have their rights restored, and ask just who is “Texas Bill?”

Another great episode from Lions of Liberty:

In this episode of the Lions of Liberty Podcast, I am joined by the libertarian speaker, activist, and author of “Healing Our World: In an Age of Aggression”, Dr. Mary Ruwart! Mary describes how her political views evolved from her days in Catholic School to her more liberal college days until finally coming upon the ideas of liberty. Mary explains how she came to see aggression as the root of many of society’s ills, eventually leading her to write “Healing Our World.” Mary and Marc discuss how a free society actually benefits the poor, how government licensing stifles the market, and why we should not want the government to require mandatory vaccinations. As you might expect, I have some thoughts of my own in the post-show rant!

I was very excited to interview economist Robert P. Murphy on the podcast recently.  He is definitely one of our more dynamic guests.  His passion for economics and libertarian theory is infectious and we were lucky to have him join us.  On this episode we discuss his book Chaos Theory which lays out plausible ways in which society could function without the state, particularly in regards to the provision of law and military.  Most people think there would be pure chaos without things like a state imposed legal system.  Dr. Murphy clearly illustrates this is nonsense.  Enjoy!

Our latest podcast was a fun one.  David Kelley is the founder and Chief Intellectual Officer of the Atlas Society, an organization committed to the promotion of Objectivism.  I am a big Ayn Rand fan and it was fascinating to learn more about her philosophy.  As you’ll hear, Dr. Kelley speaks eloquently about the Objectivism and libertarianism in general.  I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did.

Guys, this is a great interview from my friend Marc Clair at Lions of Liberty.  This guy gets amazing guests!

In this episode of the Lions of Liberty Podcast, I welcome in award winning independent journalist, the host and producer of the Truth in Media Project, Ben Swann! Ben fills us in on what’s been happening in the past year with BenSwann.com and the Truth in Media Project, why he decided to focus on the issue of police militarization, and how events in Ferguson, MO caused him to rework the project. Ben and I then go on to discuss exactly what “police militarization” is, the detrimental effects the trend is having on individual liberty, and just what is at the root of it all. Be sure to stay tuned for my wrap-up rant, as I getjust a little fired up in the Lions of Liberty Studios.

Here’s the latest from Marc Clair of Lions of Liberty:

In this episode of the Lions of Liberty Podcast, host Marc Clair welcomes in Raeford Davis, a former police officer who is a libertarian and a vocal opponent of the War on Drugs. Mr. Davis explains what drove him to first pursue a career in law enforcement, and how his experiences serving on the police force in North Charleston, South Carolina – one of the most violent cities in the country – began to make him rethink the role of law enforcement. Raeford and Marc discuss how victimless crime laws foster violence, and what Raeford would say to those who advocate for violence against police officers. Stay tuned for Marc’s thoughts on this insightful interview in the wrap-up rant.

From Marc Clair of LoL: In this episode of the Lions of Liberty Podcast, I welcome in James Carli, the Development Coordinator for the Drug Policy Alliance, a great organization that has been diligently working behind the scenes to roll back the War on Drugs both in the United States and abroad. James describes how he first became passionate about drug policy, and how he channeled that passion into a position with the Drug Policy Alliance. James and I then discuss how the origin of the War on Drugs is intertwined with racism, and how ultimately the War on Drugs is a war against people. Stay tuned as usual for my wrap-up rant!

I was very fortunate recently to have Dr. Walter Block on the show for the second time.  He is the Harold E. Wirth Eminent Scholar Endowed Chair in Economics at Loyola University, senior fellow of the Ludwig von Mises Institute, and regular columnist for LewRockwell.com.  On this episode we discuss his defense of some more unsavory characters in his sequel to his classic Defending the Undefendable,  Defending the Undefendable 2.

November and December of this year mark the 150th anniversary of General William Tecumseh Sherman’s famous “march to the sea” at the end of the War to Prevent Southern Independence.  The Lincoln cult – especially its hyper-warmongering neocon branch – has been holding conferences, celebrations, and commemorations while continuing to rewrite history to suit its statist biases.  Business as usual, in other words.  But they are not the only ones writing about the event.  Historian Karen Stokes has published South Carolina Civilians in Sherman’s Path: Stories of Courage Amid Civil War Destruction that contains a great deal of very telling information about Sherman’s motivation in waging total war on the civilianpopulation of South Carolina.

Stokes begins by quoting a letter that Sherman wrote to General Henry Halleck shortly before invading all-but-defenseless South Carolina:  “[T]he whole army is burning with an insatiable desire to wreak vengeance upon South Carolina.”  In another message a few weeks later, Sherman reiterated to Halleck that “The whole army is crazy to be turned loose in [South] Carolina.” (more…)

In this episode of the Lions of Liberty Podcast, host Marc Clair is joined by the founder and CEO of AltcoinGraphs.com, Kevin Ostrowski! Kevin describes how he first became interested in crypto currencies, and how he channeled that interest into starting AltCoinGraphs. Kevin and Marc discuss the practical uses for crypto currencies, the implications of government regulations, and whether or not crypto currencies are a threat to the Federal Reserve banking system. As always, stay tuned for Marc’s post show wrap-up rant!

David Theroux of the Independent Institute was kind enough to join me on the podcast recently.  We discussed government, the economy, and the Institute itself.  It was a very interesting conversation.  I hope you enjoy:

“[F]rom the military policies of Sherman and Sheridan there lies but an easy step to the total war of the Nazis, the greatest affront to Western civilization since its founding.”

–Richard M. Weaver, The Southern Essays of Richard M.

Weaver, pp. 168-169.

Having lied about secession, states’ rights, the origins of the Constitution, Lincoln, and just about everything having to do with the American “Civil War” for many generations, the Lincoln cult is now hard at work on its biggest lie of all: that General William Tecumseh Sherman’s famous “march to the sea” did not negatively affect Southern civilians or their property.

In a November 14 New York Times article one Alan Blinder wrote of “an expanding body of more forgiving scholarship about the general’s behavior.” In its ten thousandth attempt (at least) to mentally “reconstruct” Southerners, the government-funded Georgia Historical Society, in cahoots with the Jimmy Carter Presidential Museum, recently paced a marker in Atlanta “near the picnic tables at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum” that is supposedly “a reassessment of Sherman” that has been “decades in the making” by the Lincoln cult. (more…)

I recently had the privilege of interviewing Dr. Edward Stringham of Texas Tech University.  We covered a variety of topics including his forthcoming book entitled Private Governance, published by Oxford University Press.  It was a really interesting interview.  I hope you enjoy it:

Last week I had the pleasure of interviewing Sean Haugh, the Libertarian candidate for US Senate from North Carolina. Sean has gained attention not only for his views, but for his job as a pizza delivery man. He’s a unique and easy going fellow and is gaining some momentum in the Senate race. He is making national headlines and was kind enough to chat with the Badger recently. Enjoy!

I recently had a great chat with Jeff Deist, President of the Ludwig Von Mises Institute in Auburn, AL. Jeff spoke to me about his experiences as Ron Paul’s Chief of Staff… and he answered a lot of fun questions on libertarianism in general. It was really insightful to get his take on the state of the movement today. Enjoy!

When the Washington Post reviewed Martin Scorsese’s movie “The Gangs of New York,” which included a reasonably-accurate portrayal of the 1863 New York City draft riots (see Iver Bernstein, The New York City Draft Riots), the Post’s reviewer expressed astonishment upon learning that such an event had occurred. “We were all taught in school that there was national unity during the Civil War,” he opined.

Of course, there is never “national unity” about anything, especially war, democratic politics being what it is. When is the last time you heard of a unanimous vote expressing national unity in the U.S. Congress about anything? Even the vote to declare war on Japan after Pearl Harbor was not unanimous. (more…)

I recently had the great privilege of interviewing Greg Mannarino of http://www.traderschoice.net I had watched some of his videos and seen multiple interviews he’d given and was fascinated by his views. I know you’ll enjoy his intriguing, if not startling responses to my questions.

Please check out the latest podcast from Marc Clair of Lions of Liberty:

Recently I had the real pleasure of interviewing Dr. Burt Folsom of Hillsdale College. In his book, The Myth of the Robber Barons, he smashes the commonly held belief that Vanderbilt, Carnegie, Rockefeller, etc. were greedy capitalists that kept the average American down. As you’ll hear in this interview, nothing could be further from the truth. We also tackle one of my favorite topics: FDR and the Great Depression.

Today I had a really interesting interview with Tom DiLorenzo on Abraham Lincoln. Tom’s fine work on Lincoln has clearly demonstrated that he was not at all the great champion of freedom we learned about in school. In today’s conversation we learn the facts about the man which prove nothing could be further from the truth.

In this episode of the Lions of Liberty Podcast, I welcome the Independent, Blue Republican-endorsed candidate for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, Tisha Casida! Tisha describes how she first became involved in the liberty movement when the local politburo made her jump through hoops in order to start her own farmer’s market. In this episode of the Lions of Liberty Podcast, I welcome in financial and insurance expert, Jeff Kanter of Empowering America, to discuss alternative solutions to the burdens and costs of Obamacare insurance. Jeff describes how the use of health care ministries and becoming a self-pay patient can both satisfy the ACA mandate while providing better health care at a much better value. If you’re still recovering from Obamacare sticker shock, be sure not to miss this latest episode of the Lions of Liberty Podcast!

In this episode of the Lions of Liberty Podcast, I welcome Lions of Liberty contributing writer, Derrel Walters to the show! Derrel describes how he first became acquainted with the ideas of liberty and how he approaches discussing politics with others. Derrel and I discuss the importance of individual rights, how people might organize in a society that respects and understands them, and how we can change the world through peaceful and logical advocacy for liberty.

I recently read a great piece by Steve Patterson on http://www.lewrockwell.com and just had to have him on the show to discuss it. It’s really interesting to learn about and analyze someone’s progression from politically mainstream to politically extreme. Check out the interview and read the article here:

From Conservative to Anarchist

http://steve-patterson.com/

Here’s a great post by bionic mosquito where he offers some possible ways we could function without central planners. For more on this topic listen to our interview with Dr. Gerard Casey under the podcast tab.

An Anarchic Possibility for the Modern World

If you haven’t seen Walmart VP of Corporate Communications David Tovar’s response to a NY Times piece that vilifies the company, you have to check it out. I always find it interesting that despite their supposed inadequate wages and mistreatment of employees, thousands show up to apply for a few hundred positions every time they open a new store. Obviously these jobs provide a better opportunity than was previously available to these people or I doubt they would show up to apply. Walmart should be seen as a hero not a villain. They provide jobs and cheap goods making life better for many Americans.

It’s fun to listen to Jeffrey Tucker speak about anything really.  He is so eloquent and such a wonderful communicator of the message of liberty.  I was really excited to get to speak to him first hand recently about one of my favorite topics to explore: anarchy.  I hope you enjoy:

Today I was very lucky to have the opportunity to chat with Dr. Walter Block.  What struck me most was the courage and conviction he has to hold, disseminate and defend some very unpopular, un-PC opinions.  It was a very enlightening conversation for me.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Just Kidding… but this is pretty cool.

I’ve often wondered if the libertarian/anarchic principle of less government, fewer laws would apply to traffic lights. Central planners suck at everything. Do they really know precisely where traffic lights should be placed? Or at what intervals they should change? Or like most things they do, do they actually make the situation worse? I found this brief video enlightening:

Traffic Lights

He’s a contrarian. He’s a prognosticator. He’s a bear on the US economy. He’s Dr. Doom and he was kind enough to chat with us recently:

Given our tendency towards more government, at least since FDR, is there actually hope for an eventual small government in this country? A recent Reason-Rupe survey suggests there may be! We recently spoke with Reason Foundation director of polling Emily Ekins to discuss the results of this fascinating survey.

On Independence Day, I had the opportunity to chat with Kmele Foster of Fox Business’ The Independents and Freethink Media. We talked about Kmele’s path to libertarianism and to television. We talked about the founders and whether we’ve retained their principles or abandoned them altogether. At times our “movement” can tend to have a negative outlook on our future. The biggest thing I took away from my chat with Kmele is that there is a lot to be optimistic about… which was definitely refreshing for a change.

Also, here are links to the films Kmele mentions in the interview:

The American experience in Vietnam once had a real bite to it. Second only to the Civil War in the way it affected the American psyche. These two wars go hand in hand in that respect, for they were both firsts when it came to seeing the blood, and guts, and bones of dead Americans in living color. After the Civil War we sure kept waging war on the Native Americans, but after Vietnam we actually stopped the killing for a minute, took a pause, and actually reflected on what we had done. (more…)

Recently we had a really interesting chat with Ed Krayewski of reason.com
We spoke about recent events in Iraq and Ukraine and US foreign policy in general. It was a real education. Enjoy…

Dinesh D’Souza is a conservative author and filmaker. He made big waves with his 2012 documentary, 2016: Obama’s America. He is now promoting his new film, America: Imagine the World Without Her. He was kind enough to take a few minutes out of his crazy schedule to talk about the movie and discuss a few issues with us. Enjoy…

Coming up in the next 2 weeks, Political Badger talks with Amity Shlaes, Ed Krayewski, Dinesh D’Souza, Kmele Foster and Marc Faber. Please stay tuned!!!
